Free case consultation from AMFS: What to expect for personal injury cases

This completely free service gives you the opportunity to have medical-legal experts review your case to help determine if there is validity, without obligating yourself to using any of our other services. This service can benefit both medical malpractice and personal injury cases, however we’re going to focus on personal injury cases specifically in this article. Here’s what you can expect.   

During your consultation, you’ll speak directly with one of our Medical Directors to assess the situation from a physician’s perspective and discern the best experts for the case. This means reviewing the highlights of the case to answer the following questions:   

• What are all the sources of liability for the injuries involved and what experts are best to opine on those injuries? 

• Could there be other sources of liability? 

• Are there sources of injury that need to be ruled out? 

• Have we evaluated all cross/counter claims? 

• Are there long-term damages that need to be outlined? 

Our Medical Directors will then help you determine what type of medical expert witness will be the best fit for your case and assess if your case requires testimony from experts in multiple medical fields. Typically, cases need an expert that closely matches the credentials of the defense or plaintiff but sometimes an additional, specialized witness is needed to provide further context and a better understanding of the damages incurred. For example, a car is involved in an accident with an eighteen-wheeler. As a result of the accident, the driver of the car suffers a ruptured liver and fracture of the scapula. The fractured scapula leads to a permanent disability for the driver. An accident reconstruction expert may be needed to investigate and reconstruct the accident scene for the court room. A physical medicine and rehabilitation expert can analyze and quantitate just how severe the diver’s limitations are due to the shoulder injury and a functional capacity expert can convert this information into a disability claim.
