What does AMFS consider when matching you with the right expert witness?

At AMFS, we’re dedicated to making sure each case is matched with the right expert witness for their unique scenario. Each case is different, and a number of things are considered when matching expert witnesses to cases, however there are a few constants that are applied to every case we assist with.  

Here are the three main criteria we consider when selecting an expert witness. 

1. Specialty: The standards of care differ from specialty to specialty. In other words, your chosen expert witness needs to not just perform the same procedures and treatments as the defendant, but also perform them in the same manner. For example, RNs and LPNs are both nurses but they receive different educations and have different scopes of practice.

2. Experience with the specific issue at hand: Finding the right specialty is only the first step. Next, we have to consider the devices and exact procedures in question and verify if the potential witness has recent and relevant experience. For example, if the case involves a a cardiologist and the implantation of a pacemaker then the ideal witness is also a cardiologist that implants pacemakers.

3. Finding an objective witness: Sometimes juries respond better to witnesses that have experience testifying for both plaintiff and defense. At AMFS we assist in all case types, ensuring that our witnesses have a balanced case experience.
